KUCHING — Catholic Welfare Services Council Sarawak (CWS) is organising a charity run on 9 September to raise funds for the poor and needy. The run is CWS’s fund-raising project for this year.
The Charity Run revolves around the theme “I RUN FOR THE LEAST” based on Matthew 25:34-40, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me… Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Catholic Services Charity Run 2017 hopes to raise RM2.5 million to fund the Home of Peace, Catholic Services Centre, CWS Samaritans, Society of St Vincent de Paul, Meals for Urban Poor Families (through SKUP), Archbishop’s Disaster Relief Fund, and Rural Parishes.
CWS is targeting at least 10,000 runners with sponsor cards for the run apart from student participation and corporate sponsorships.
The Charity Run consists of two categories: 8 km Run and 3 km Family Run. Both categories will begin and finish at St Joseph’s Cathedral. The rules and regulations of both runs are in the sponsor cards.
The sponsor cards were distributed early this month together with a souvenir brochure on the various ministries involved in charity work within the Archdiocese of Kuching.
CWS appeals to all parishioners and their families and friends to support the Charity Run in the spirit of fellowship and charity.
Further information on the Charity Run can be obtained from CWS office at ACCPC ground floor, or contact 082-241407.
