Bau — A half-day faith formation assembly to strengthen and deepen faith in Christ, was organised at St Stephen’s Church on 30 July 2022. It was attended by 1067 church committee leaders and prayer leaders from Bau district.
In his welcoming speech, parish rector Rev Fr Peter Liston noted the assembly was the first step to implement action plans discussed during the Parish Pastoral Assembly held three days earlier at the same venue. “Some of us are facing challenges in our faith during the Covid pandemic and therefore we need to revive our faith in Christ,” he said.
In his talk, key speaker Rev Fr Don Don Ramerez of St Ann stressed that sins are the reason for lackadaisical attitude towards God, that had led to separation from God, and only through Christ we can have the strength to live in love and glory of our God.
“When we accept Jesus Christ as God and Saviour, the Holy Spirit will provide the strength to appreciate life,” he said. He added we need to make the decision to allow Christ to enter our lives as written in Revelations 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me.”
Fr Don Don also spoke about the threats from the power of darkness and called on everyone to be equipped with the armour of God and pray all the time, as written in Ephesians 6: 13-16.
A healing session was held before the assembly concluded with a Mass. Bible and religious books were on sale during the assembly.
