Fr Joseph Stephen delivering his session

By SOCCOM CBSL

LABUAN — THE Church of the Blessed Sacrament Labuan had a two-night session with Fr Joseph Stephen CsSR on Jul 24 – 25. Fr Joseph, a retired priest is currently the Vicar of the Redemptorist Congregation.

The theme of the formation talk was “The roles of the laity”. In his sessions, Fr Joseph shared on the history of the lay ministry and also the spirituality of lay ministers. It is a long haul to serve in the Church. Situations and approaches in serving change from time to time in order to reach out to people. However, it should always be based on the teaching of the Christ and the Tradition of the Catholic Church.

At the end of the session, parish priest Fr Thomas accentuated that the pandemic has greatly affected faith formation in the parish and so, given the Transition to endemic stage and in view that faith formation was identified as the parish focus in 2022, he hopes that more parallel sessions will be organized. This too is in line with the vision and mission of our Archdiocese, where greater participation among the laity is greatly encouraged for the building of God’s kingdom here on earth.

The sessions were attended by 70 lay ministers.
