KUCHING — Over eighty priests and lay leaders of the Archdiocese reflected jointly on “Love One Another As I Have Loved You” (Jn 13:34) at the AVA room of St Peter’s Church, Padungan on 25 September.
The re-collection began with a Holy Eucharist concelebrated by His Grace Archbishop John Ha with six parish priests. In his sermon reflecting on the readings of the day, he said, “there are basically two phases in life, the young black hair days and the old grey hair days”. He added, “Remember the youthful days when we have all to account for our deeds and do not despair when we are old. We must understand the meaning of our Saviour Jesus Christ crucified and the love he has for us and he gives us the joy of eternal life.”
The lay leaders at the Re-collection consisted of Archdiocese Pastoral Councillors, Parish Councillors, religious and youth representatives.
The video “St John of Ephesus – in exile” appropriately reflected the theme of day. Under persecution and very harsh conditions and in his old age, the octagonian lived a true life of a disciple. In his sufferings, he still continued living a holy life evangelising, writing his Gospel and probably also the Apocalypse, and showing his tremendous love for all those who came in contact with him.
The Parish Priest of St Peter’s Church, Rev Fr Vincent Chin conducted the Benediction in the Church to end the re-collection day.
