KUCHING — On the Saturday morning of 23 March 2024, 11 parishioners joined six members of the St Joseph Conference of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) to visit two Friend-In-Need (FIN) families in the Singai area in Bau.
The journey started at the assembly point in front of St Mark’s Church in Batu Kawa, and the convoy of four vehicles brought the visitors through many steep, winding and narrow roads to the homes of our FINs. One FIN is an 89-year-old widow staying in Kpg Sagah while the other is a bed-ridden elderly widow living in Kpg Senibong.
In addition to generous gifts of food and other items, the visitors also brought warmth and cheer to the grateful recipients.
This visit is one of the activities in SSVP St Joseph’s annual Lenten programme, which aims to open a window to parishioners to share with them the daily challenges faced by our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Christ. By participating in and witnessing the plight of these folks, we hope that the visitors were touched and blessed by an encounter with our suffering Lord.
